Paul Harvey 9/14/18 - 2/28/09

image

The first conservative voice I heard on the radio was Paul Harvey. I was 13 and the “old man” just seemed to make sense to me. America has lost a great radio broadcaster!

Paul Harvey passed away today at 90 years young. Godspeed Mr. Harvey. America will miss you.

The True Cost of Global Warming Hysteria

A film by filmakers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer

A truthful look at the global warming movement and how the world is being mislead. Al Gore and his elite buddies want to use flawed science to push their agenda. This film is an attempt to shine the light of truth on Al Gore’s fantasy.

They hope to have it shown in every theater, university and school in America. You can donate to their success at their web site.

Quotes to Ponder

From Ludwig von Mises, the Austrian Economist come some quotes to think about while the government (cough, cough, Democrats) abandons all control and catapults our nation toward financial ruin.
If the practice persists of covering government deficits with the issue of notes, then the day will come without fail, sooner or later, when the monetary systems of those nations pursuing this course will break down completely. The purchasing power of the monetary unit will decline more and more, until finally it disappears completely.
A nation cannot prosper if its members are not fully aware of the fact that what alone can improve their conditions is more and better production. And this can only be brought about by increased saving and capital accumulation.
What the doctrine of balancing budgets over a period of many years really means is this: As long as our own party is in office, we will enhance our popularity by reckless spending.
What the government spends more, the public spends less. Public works are not accomplished by the miraculous power of a magic wand. They are paid for by funds taken away from the citizens.

Here We Go Again!

House Democrats propose $410B spending bill

Where does it STOP?

More indebtedness brought to you by Democrats.

Democrats defended the spending increases, saying they were needed to make up for cuts enacted in recent years or proposed a year ago by then-President George W. Bush in health, education, energy and other programs.

Republicans countered that the spending in the bill far outpaced inflation, and amounted to much higher increases when combined with spending in the stimulus legislation that President Barack Obama signed last week. In a letter to top Democratic leaders, the GOP leadership called for a spending freeze, a step they said would point toward a “new standard of fiscal discipline.”

A “new standard of fiscal discipline.” Are you kidding?

CNBC - Rick Santelli Gets Real in Chicago

Rick Santelli doing some real time reporting from Chicago strikes a nerve with the truth.

Or would we like to at least buy cars and buy houses in foreclosure and give them to people that might have a chance to actually prosper down the road and reward people that could carry the water instead of drink the water?

How many of you people want to pay for your neighbor’s mortgage that has an extra bathroom and can’t pay their bills? Raise (your) hand.

Loud boos heard in response and not a single hand was raised.

Cuba used to have mansions and a relatively decent economy. They moved from the individual to the collective, now they’re driving ‘54 Chevys, maybe the last great car to come out of Detroit.

I’ll tell you what, if you read our founding fathers, people like Benjamin Franklin and Jefferson, what we’re doing in this country now is making them roll over in their graves.

Priceless

Quote of The Day

The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened.

Can America Survive the Plunge Into Socialism?

Mark Syeyn points out a historic fact and doesn’t want to speculate on the answer in his article - The Obamateur Hour

In 1897, troops from the greatest empire the world had ever seen marched down London’s mall for Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee. Seventy years later, Britain had government health care, a government-owned car industry, massive government housing, and it was a shriveled high-unemployment socialist basket-case living off the dwindling cultural capital of its glorious past. In 1945, America emerged from the Second World War as the preeminent power on earth. Seventy years later . . .

Let’s not go there.

Not So Urgent After All

Wasn’t there a urgent need to pass the stimulus bill?

From the Washington Post. WHAT’S THE RUSH? ‘URGENT’ $TIMULUS ON HOLD FOR BAM’S WEEKEND OFF.

After pushing Congress for weeks to hurry up and pass the massive $787 billion stimulus bill, President Obama promptly took off for a three-day holiday getaway.

The president plans to spend the Presidents’ Day weekend in the Windy City, and is not expected to sign the bill until Tuesday, when he travels to Denver to discuss his economic plan.

Truth be told, it was urgent to bamboozle the American People and pass this thing before they catch on. Barry’s arrogance toward the people is evident once again.

Fannie Mae - Still Out Of Control

From Bloomberg: Fannie Mae to Loosen Rules for Home-Loan Refinancing

Congress learned nothing, it’s business as usual at Fannie Mac. Guaranteed to bring economic disaster!

HAVE THEY NOT LEARNED ANYTHING?

Fannie Mae will drop some credit-score requirements, reduce income-documentation standards and waive the need for appraisals in some cases, according to a notice yesterday to lenders posted on the Washington-based company’s Web site. The changes apply to loans that the company owns or guarantees.

Fannie Mae’s changes will include allowing borrowers seeking to take out a loan that is 80 percent of the value of the home or less to qualify for refinancing with credit scores below its 580 minimum. Consumer credit scores as measured by Fair Isaac Corp. range from 300 to 850.

Easing Documentation

The program also lowers income-documentation requirements to one current pay stub, according to the notice.

Where are the co-conspiritors Barney Frank and Chris Dodd that are supposed to be regulating this stuff? Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

If you can’t meet the standard for a home loan then there is a term for you, it’s called “renter.”

New York State Punishing The Producers

image

Question: Does Graduated Income Taxes at the State Level Violate the Equal Protection Clause of the United States Constitution?

Instead of living within it’s means the State of New York is (yes, you guessed correctly) increasing taxes on the “evil” rich. I don’t know of anyone that was employed by a poor person. Using wealth envy to attack the producers is a really bad idea. To think that this will prevent statewide economic catastrophe is lunacy.

You have to love “graduated” income tax brackets. Karl Marx sure did.

New York wants an increase of from 1.4 to 2.6 percent on anyone making over $250,000.

$250,000 - $499,000 - 8.25 percent
$500,000 - $999,999 - 8.97 percent
$1,000,000 and up - 10.3 percent

Is there anyone in New York state or any other state that has a graduated income tax willing to challenge this on the basis of the Equal Protection Clause of the United States Constitution?

I think there is a valid argument to be made here!

The “Equal Protection Clause is a portion of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that prohibits discrimination by state government institutions. The clause grants all people “equal protection of the laws,” which means that the states must apply the law equally and cannot give preference to one person or class of persons over another.

From my understanding this does not apply to the Federal Government but does apply directly to the States.

Graduated income taxes DOES GIVE preference to one person or class of persons over another. The citizens of the United States may not be able to change the way Washington DC does business but, we can surely start putting pressure on the states to end the discriminatory practice of graduated income taxes.

Who has the stones to challenge their state? It would be a worthy challenge.
